Project Size :

Project:

A logistically challenging project where every nut, bolt and washer etc had to be sourced, procured and transported by ship some 8,000 miles to Mare Harbour in the Falkland Islands and thereafter, taken to the highest and most remote and hazardous places in the Falklands often by helicopter.

Project Details:

Brandclad Ltd installed the roof and wall cladding to three remote radar stations on the top of three different mountains with-in the East and West Falkland Isles. This challenging project included the installation of multiple layers of rigid insulation board and fibre-cement profile 6 sheets and flashings to all three buildings.

Also included was the installation of baffle walls to the front of the buildings to protect each building from the severe weather experienced. Works were carried out during the summer months in the Southern Hemisphere (January-March) to avoid the worst of their weather. We still experienced gale force winds, rain, snow and bright sunshine all within the same day during our construction works.

Logistically materials were containerised and shipped to the Falklands, however Brandclad Ltd also utilised military flights from Brize Norton to deliver materials which were then trans-shipped to the site by helicopter.
